Three Flavors: One Punch is a multimedia installation placed into the context of a party, placed into a gallery space. Although the work remains visible throughout the event, it is only completed when activated by the viewer, when punch is removed from one of the three bowls.
Each bowl shows a video loop of someone from one of three ethnic backgrounds performing an aggressive swatting gesture. By the viewer selecting which punch they prefer, and thus removing it from its container, they transform the state of the punch from something extremely vibrant and colorful into something less desirable, something more generic. Should the viewer feel disappointed in their selection, they have the opportunity to try the other flavors. In doing so they are admitting the state of dissatisfaction and seeking the diverse, or at least something different.
